i have been thinking about these drawings. there is a real nice sense of character to this guy, which is good. one of the challenges is to create a lasting memory of a personality - immediately. you succeed at that.

another challenge is to ensure there is enough visual information on each page. i see both of these drawings as two panels on a page that may have five or more panels on it. it doesn’t have to be a clusterfuck of panels, but there should be enough to give the reader their money’s worth. just look at Brunetti’s work, the man doesn’t just pour everything into every page, he pours everything into every panel!!! Each panel is its own experience and adds to the flow of the story.

I am not sure where you are headed with these, but keep in mind that empty spaces in comics are termed ‘the gutter’. You need gutters, but too many of them or too much blank space and the comic will disintegrate. Also know that minimalism is the antithesis of what comics, or even tattoos for that matter, stand for. Comics and tattoos are compressed imagery, orgies of hard work, that implode in the eye.
